In the book, Harpal Brar discusses the marketization of the Chinese economy. Though appreciating the extent of the growth, Harpal put forward the Marxist & Leninist position that commodity production and creation, the essence of the market is not compatible with Communism. He argues that had China adhered to authorized planning, it could have achieved a greater and balanced level of economical development independent of the vagaries of imperialism & free from the ravages of the market.
